PROPOSED MERGER OF THE CADRES OF DOS AND STA

Bangalore, the 27th November, 2011


Dear Members,

As intimated, a meeting of the Members was held at the conference Hall on 25th November, 2011. The background in which such a decision has been taken by the Board, the implications of the decision and the likely course of action to be adopted by the Association was discussed. Many members were agitated and voiced their serious concerns on the matter. Various doubts and queries raised by the Members on the matter was clarified/explained.

It was unanimously decided to oppose the proposed merger strongly, as it is detrimental to the very survival of the cadre. It was also decided to take up the matter with the cadre controlling Commissioner and the zonal Chief Commissioner to apprise the Board of our concerns. Accordingly the office bearers and some of the senior members met the Commissioner and Chief Commissioner to explain the issue and seek their support. As expected, they were supportive of the Association's view point and have assured to take up the matter with the Board, on receipt of written representations. The Association would be pursuing the same.

Further, it was decided to inform the All India Association about the decision of the local unit and extend whole hearted support to any form of agitation that may be embarked upon to achieve this demand and other pending demands. The members were informed that any development on the issue will be made known as soon as notified and sought their support and unity on the matter.

Comrades!  The date 28-09-2015 marks a black day for the Tax Assistants of the GST & Customs department all over the country. It was on this day 5 years ago that Tax Assistants, an integral cadre of the Ministerial community, got a rude jolt as their dreams and aspirations of getting promotions were crashed suddenly.
